Are Caffeine Pouches Safe? What Our Lab Results Show

Cyclone Pods Focus Pouches are independently tested by Certified Laboratories, an A2LA-accredited facility in Burbank, California. The lab screened for over 150 contaminants — pesticides, residual solvents, and heavy metals. Every pesticide and solvent came back Not Detected. Heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic) measured well below safety thresholds. Caffeine content verified at 113% of our 50 mg label claim — you get at least what we promise.

We test pouches at a different lab than our vapes. Certified Laboratories specializes in dietary supplements, cosmetics, and oral consumer goods — the right expertise for a product you put in your mouth. Our vape products are tested by Legend Technical Services in St. Paul, Minnesota, which specializes in nicotine detection via LC-MS/MS. Different products, different labs, same commitment: publish everything. For a full breakdown of each ingredient and its research backing, see What's In Cyclone Focus Pouches.

Why We Test Our Pouches Separately

Vapes and pouches enter your body differently — one through your lungs, the other through your gums. A test designed for e-liquid purity won't catch what matters in a pouch you hold against your cheek for 20 minutes.

That's why we sent our Focus Pouches to Certified Laboratories in Burbank, California — a lab that tests dietary supplements, OTC products, and oral consumer goods daily. They hold A2LA accreditation under ISO 17025, the international standard for testing and calibration labs.

The result: a 7-page Certificate of Analysis covering pesticide residues, residual solvents, heavy metals, and caffeine content verification. We publish it here because transparency isn't a marketing word. It's a PDF you can download.

What We Screen For

Every batch goes through a full analytical panel before it ships. Here's what the lab checks.

  • Pesticide Residues

Over 100 pesticide compounds screened per USP <561> modified methods. Detection limits as low as 0.01 mg/kg. All results: Not Detected.

  • Residual Solvents

50+ industrial solvents tested per USP <467> via GC-FID. Includes benzene, chloroform, methanol, and dozens more. All results: Not Detected.

  • Heavy Metals

Lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic tested via ICP-MS. All four measured well below FDA and USP safety thresholds.

  • Caffeine Verification

Caffeine content verified at 113% of our 50 mg label claim. You're getting at least the dose we promise on the package.

  • Ingredient Purity

Screened for undeclared substances, adulterants, and contamination. Only the ingredients on our label are in the pouch.

  • Regulatory Compliance

Testing follows USP pharmacopeia standards and FDA 21 CFR Part 111 cGMP requirements for dietary supplement manufacturing.

How We Test

Our Focus Pouches Certificate of Analysis was performed by Certified Laboratories (Account 250708-0118), an A2LA-accredited lab in Burbank, California.

Pesticides: USP <561> modified methods screen for 100+ compounds including organophosphates, organochlorines, pyrethroids, and carbamates.

Solvents: USP <467> via Gas Chromatography with Flame Ionization Detection (GC-FID) tests for 50+ industrial solvents.

Heavy Metals: Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) quantifies lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic to parts-per-billion precision.

Caffeine: HPLC method verifies caffeine content against our 50 mg label claim.

  • Ashwagandha

An adaptogen that lowers cortisol. A 2012 trial (Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine) found 300 mg twice daily reduced serum cortisol by 27.9% over 60 days. Used in Ayurvedic practice for centuries.

  • Lion's Mane

A mushroom that stimulates nerve growth factor (NGF). Mori et al. (2009, PMID: 19571397) showed improved cognitive function in older adults after 16 weeks of daily use.

  • Reishi

Adaptogenic mushroom for immune modulation and calm. Balances the stimulant effect of caffeine without sedation.

  • Cordyceps

Functional mushroom supporting physical endurance and oxygen utilization. Studied for exercise performance benefits.

  • Bacopa Monnieri

Ayurvedic herb for memory consolidation and learning. Effects are cumulative over 4–12 weeks of consistent use.

  • Guarana (50mg Caffeine)

Natural caffeine source with tannins that slow absorption. Roughly half a cup of coffee per pouch — gradual onset, fewer jitters.

Our Focus Pouches are tested by Certified Laboratories (A2LA accredited, Burbank, CA) for 100+ pesticides, 50+ solvents, and 4 heavy metals. All pesticides and solvents: Not Detected. Heavy metals measured well below USP <232> thresholds — Lead at 0.002 ppm vs. a 5 ppm limit, or 2,500x below. Caffeine verified at 113% of our 50 mg label claim. Full breakdown in the results table above. We publish the Certificate of Analysis so you can check every number yourself. That said, no supplement is universally "safe" — consult your doctor if you take medications or have health conditions.

Our COA from Certified Laboratories covers four categories: pesticide residues (100+ compounds per USP <561>), residual solvents (50+ compounds per USP <467>), heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic via ICP-MS), and caffeine content accuracy. This is the same level of testing applied to dietary supplements and pharmaceutical products.

Yes, at trace levels found naturally in soil and water. Our results: Lead 0.002 ppm (USP limit: 5 ppm), Mercury 0.004 ppm (limit: 1.5 ppm), Cadmium 0.004 ppm (limit: 2 ppm), Arsenic 0.002 ppm (limit: 1.5 ppm). Every metal is hundreds to thousands of times below the safety threshold. Full panel in the COA download above.

Yes. Each Focus Pouch contains Ashwagandha, Lion's Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, Bacopa Monnieri, and Guarana (50 mg caffeine). Caffeine verified at 113% of label claim. All ingredients screened for pesticide contamination and solvent residues — see the results table above.

Certified Laboratories, a Certified Group company in Burbank, California. They hold A2LA accreditation under ISO 17025 and specialize in testing cosmetics, dietary supplements, OTC products, and consumer goods. This is a different lab from the one that tests our vape products — we use Legend Technical Services (St. Paul, MN) for vapes. Different product types require different analytical expertise.

We test production batches before release and publish the results. The Certificate of Analysis on this page (Account 250708-0118) covers our Peach Focus Pouch batch, received by the lab on July 8, 2025 and reported July 15, 2025. This COA is representative of our manufacturing process across all four flavors.

No long-term studies specifically address caffeine pouch effects on gum tissue. Our pouches are tested for contaminants that could harm oral health — heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents all came back clean. The pouch material itself is food-grade. If you experience gum irritation, reduce usage frequency or switch sides. People with existing periodontal conditions should consult their dentist.

Not Detected (ND) means the substance was below the instrument's Limit of Detection (LOD) — essentially unmeasurable. For pesticides, our lab uses USP <561> modified methods with detection limits as low as 0.01 mg/kg. For solvents, USP <467> with limits as low as 2 ppm. When we say "Not Detected," it means the most sensitive available equipment couldn't find it.
